Chestnut Dream
This could easily be the best dessert you've ever tasted. It is inspired by a Turkish candy, chestnuts dipped in chocolate. This is the next best thing! :)
You'll need:
- 4 packages of peeled & cooked chestnuts from Trader Joe's (6.5 oz / 184g. each)
- 1 package of semi-sweet chocolate chips (10 oz / 284g.)
- 1/2 cup of organic heavy cream
- 1 package of mixed organic berries (I used Trader Joe's, 12oz / 340g.)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 3 cups of water
Defrost the mixed berries in a strainer. Throw away any melted liquid.
Boil the chestnuts in water. When they get softer, mash them with a potato masher. Continue to boil until they have mashed potato consistency. If you want them smoother use a hand blender. Add the vanilla. Set aside to cool down.
Prepare a chocolate ganache cream. Mix the chocolate and heavy cream in a pan over medium heat. Stir continuously. Set aside to cool down.
Layer chestnut-chocolate-berries, in that order, twice, into a bowl of your choice. I used wine glasses.
Enjoy thoroughly! You can serve them chilled or at room temperature. Makes 5 servings.
Yum yum yum :)
